Journey to the Resurrection: Exploring the Christian perspectives on death and hope
The Covid pandemic confronted us with death statistics daily. Beyond the nuances of categories and causes, the relentless toll served as a sombre reminder of our mortality. As Christians, how do we grapple with the concept of death, support one another in its impending shadow, and provide counsel to the dying? How does our perspective differ from the world around us?
Watch a recording of an online symposium hosted on 29 February 2024 by Affinity where a distinguished panel shared insights into these profound questions.
Do we as Christians talk about death in the right way? Is the fear of death rational? Do we have a robust theology of enjoying life and thoughtfully and confidently approaching death in the light of the resurrection of Jesus? In our pursuit of celebrating life to the fullest, do we inadvertently neglect conversations about death, akin to the non-believer? Alternatively, is there a danger of developing a morbid fascination that dulls our appreciation for the abundant blessings God has bestowed upon us in this life?
During this free half-day webinar hosted by Affinity, we explored four main topics:
- A theology of life and death
- The final lap: Retirement, dependency and dying
- The effects of dementia on friends and families
- Assisted suicide: Who decides when we die?
Rewatch this insightful exploration of Christian perspectives on death, life, and the hope we find as we journey to the resurrection.
