Thought for the Day – Friday

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Ephesians is a letter to Christians who have been chosen, loved, adopted and given new life by God the Father, by connecting us with Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This week we have been learning from chapter 4 how this new life transforms the way we speak.

In chapter 5, verses 1 and 2, Paul says: “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Instead of false, unwholesome, angry, slanderous words, we use words of truth, love and compassion. What will motivate us, and what is our model?

Our motivation is that God has shown us so much love. Christ loved us so much he gave himself up for us.

Our model is our loving Father God who adopted us, wretched sinners that we were, to be such dearly-loved children.

Christ is a fragrant offering. You can be one, too, with your life of love and words of truth.
