Christians and political liberalism

How are Christians in the UK today to view the role of the secular state and the church’s place in society?

Although it is a debate that goes back centuries, over the past couple of years John Stevens (Director of the FIEC) and Joe Boot (Director of the Wilberforce Academy) have emerged as two of the key protagonists in the discussion. Both men are clear-thinking believers who seek to be faithful to Scripture and apply its teaching to all of life. And yet they end up (on this question at least) in quite different places.

To help us understand more of the arguments that these men use in developing their contrasting visions, we have made available the two interviews below. Go to 21:30 for the start of John’s interview and to 8:30 for Joe’s on their respective podcasts.
