Thought of the Day – Tuesday

Each morning this week, Graham Nicholls, our Director, is offering the Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise. You can hear the Thought of the Day around 7.20am on Premier Christian Radio and 7.40am on Premier Praise.

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

Good morning. The book of Proverbs gives us wisdom to navigate through life, shaped by honouring the Lord God and listening to him.

It’s full of references to family life – fathers, mothers and children.

There are 10 speeches written from parents to their children.

Chapter 1 verse 8 says:

“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction
    and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

Our family homes are places where we can teach our children how to follow God in all the detail of everyday lives. We do this when we read the Bible with our children – something which we need to rediscover as Christian families.

And we do it when we talk to our children about life.

It’s a lifelong pattern. The “Son” in the book of Proverbs seems to be a grown man with all the temptations that brings.

What will you do in your families to pass on the wisdom that comes from God?

How will you be a wise friend and counsellor, earthing God’s wisdom in the challenges your friends and family face so they can live for the glory of God?
