Thought of the Day – Tuesday

Here is the text of what Graham shared this morning:

A child of God is who we are

In the first letter written by the disciple John, in chapter 3 verse 1, he says “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are.”

He wants them to realise their status, their identity.

They are called children of God because they really are children of God!

And it all happened because of the generous, outstanding, undeserved love of God for us.

If you are a Christian, this is who you are. There may be many titles you might give yourself: father, daughter, teacher, student, patient, retired or business person and that’s about what you’re doing now. But your identity is in Christ and that ultimately defines who you are and gives you confidence, security and a direction in life.

You are adopted into God’s family, not just a friend of his – someone whom he tolerates and occasionally talks to but someone who is in the family of God, someone who has the status of a child with inheritance rights.

John invites us to stand back for a moment, to look, to gaze, to consider, to reflect – to know it’s true.
