The new issue of Foundations Theological Journal is now online

The latest edition of our theological journal, Foundations, is now available to download or read online – all free of charge. This issue contains over 180 pages of articles and reviews to enlighten and inform. The bulk of the articles are from our Theological Study Conference earlier this year at which the subject of corporate public worship was discussed.

The six papers presented cover a huge amount of ground to help us focus on the relevant biblical material, to better understand the trajectory of Scripture and to appreciate many of the different perspectives that are held by member churches within Affinity.

The papers are:

A Biblical Theology of Worship by Mark Johnston (Bethel Presbyterian Church, Cardiff; Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England and Wales)

When You Come Together: Gathered Worship in the New Testament by David R. Kirk (Highland Theological College; minister, Free Church of Scotland)

What is Sweeter to us is Clearer: The Aesthetics of Worship – A Historical Survey by Robert Letham (Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology, Union School of Theology)

Tuning the Heart: A Historical Survey of the Affections in Corporate Worship, with Special Reference to Jonathan Edwards by Graham Beynon (Pastor, Grace Church, Cambridge; Director, Independent Ministry Training, Oak Hill Theological College)

Worship Today: Maintaining Continuity with the Past and Across the World by Ray Evans (Lead Minister, Grace Community Church, Bedford and Church Leadership Consultant, FIEC)

Worship Today: Contemporary Expression of Worship in One’s Own Culture(s) by Stephen Clark (Pastor, Freeschool Court Evangelical Church, Bridgend, Director, EMW Theological Training Course and Lecturer in Systematic Theology, London Seminary)

So, if you wish to get to grips with this important subject, reading this issue of Foundations would be an excellent way to start.

We also include a major review article by Mark Pickett from UFM Worldwide on a new book on mission to the Muslim world, Margins of Islam: Ministry in Diverse Muslim Contexts

Along with various useful book reviews, we have another edition of Foundations which is stimulating, challenging and informative. We hope you enjoy it!
