Caring For Life is a Christian ministry based in Leeds established in 1987 by Peter Parkinson, a Reformed Baptist minister, and Esther Smith, a member of his church and a children’s home manager. They set out, along with others, to practically share the love of Jesus with an ever-growing number of vulnerable and at-risk young people in their own church.

From day one, and still today, we aim to bring the love and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who live on the fringes of society, through everything we do. We have supported thousands of damaged and abused men and women and have seen the Lord work in miraculous ways, most gloriously we have known many give their lives to the Lord.

We offer support in a variety of ways. The front-line work takes place across the city as we visit and support those who live in complete isolation, by offering advice and help with housing issues, benefits support, mental health and emotional support. We provide food and practical help in the hope that it enables a person to manage and maintain their lives better.

We also offer housing support in our two supported-living homes and have a home for a vulnerable family.

Our headquarters, based at a farm on the north side of Leeds, offers up to 14 different daytime projects ranging from working with cattle, sheep, horses, woodwork, horticulture etc… through to arts, music and catering.

We offer support for as long a person wants it, so if it’s life, then that’s what we offer.

A large part of Caring For Life’s ministry is addressing the life-long and damaging effects of childhood abuse as that’s often the cause for such trauma and chaos later in life.

Through everything we do, we ultimately want people to come and know Jesus because we know that he alone has the answer to the problem of sin, abuse and suffering. Every opportunity is taken to share not only the love of Jesus in practical ways but also to speak about the Saviour who died for them.

We are thrilled to be part of Affinity. We will benefit greatly from God’s people praying for the work, and in a world of confusion about the Gospel, we want to stand alongside like-minded Gospel people as we reach out to the lost and hold up the Word of God.

We look forward to partnering with Caring For Life in sharing news of their work and events and working together to encourage the proclamation of the Gospel.
